Welcome to our website
We read in the bible that the people following the life of Jesus were devoted to meeting together:
In Acts chapter 2 verse 42 we read:
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
We are a group of disciples worshipping God. We sing, pray, read the bible & eat together.
I use the word disciple because Jesus never used the word Christian. This was a term used for the disciples as they reminded people of Christ, once Jesus had been crucified and had risen again, He went to be with the Father (God), and the disciples that remained carried on doing what they had been taught. It was at this point that there are only three references of the disciples being called Christians. In Acts chapter 11 verses 25 & 26 we read:
25 So Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26 and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.
In 1 John chapter 2 verse 6 it says:
6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
I really don’t think that the average Christian looks like Christ today, as Christ was very active in reaching the lost, preaching the gospel, telling people to repent and be baptised, healing the sick etc etc. There are some churches doing some of this today, but it is a minority. None of us are fully there yet, we are all a work in progress. I want to be more like Him in all I say and do. In John chapter 4 verse 23-24 it says:
23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
In the bible it says that the church is a group of believing people coming together. In the English culture we have grown up in, we think of a church as a building that people go to, but that wasn’t what Jesus referred to. In the New Testament of the bible ekklesia is the Greek word for the church. It is a body of people ‘not so much assembling because they have chosen to come together, but assembling because God has called them to himself’. They do not meet to share their own opinions, they meet to hear the voice of God.
We live in the Witney area and meet together every day. At 7am we pray together for an hour and in the evening we meet together for an evening meal. We’re keep busy during the day by reading the bible and singing songs, and by keeping the place clean and tidy, cutting the grass etc etc. In the evenings after the meal we are together for different things: Praise & Worship, Prayer together, and on one evening we sit together to watch a film or documentary about living the life Jesus has commanded us to, or a YouTube video about a teaching on a passage in the bible etc etc.
If you are sick or ill, if you have issues at school or work, or some area in you life or the life of a friend or family needs change that seems impossible, please send us a prayer request message here, and we will lift you up in prayer.
If you want to come and help with practical things, please send us a message here.
If you want to meet up to pray together, please also feel free to message us. We would really like to hear from you.
In the bible it says when you have faith in God, that we must repent and be baptised for the forgiveness of our sins and receive the Holy spirit.
We have a large lake where we have baptised people who want to follow Jesus. He says we need to give our life to Him, (we die to Him) and that nothing should come before Him. He should be the person we worship. We shouldn’t have anything that takes our focus off Him. We’re told to come out of the world – I know we still live in the world, but to stop doing what we used to do – partying, drinking, swearing etc etc. We are to preach the gospel to people, but not to live with them doing worldly things. The bible says to separate ourselves from the world, and to live a holy life. It says in the bible to “Be pure for I am pure” If you want to know more about this life, contact us.
And please contact us if you want to know more about being baptised.
If you have any questions or comments at all, please write a message to us on the contact us page, and if you give your email or phone number we will reply.
